Introducing Ben Phippen: Strategic Growth Manager

Hi Ben! Great to have you on the team.
Where did you work prior to Devoli and what was your role there?
I was at One New Zealand for 4 years as an Enterprise Business Development Manager. I worked with the largest businesses and organisations in the country to create a better-connected Aotearoa New Zealand.
What will you be doing at Devoli?
I’ve joined in a newly created role as Strategic Growth Manager. I’ll work with our MSPs and leverage my relationships with Enterprise organisations to simplify connectivity and create bespoke telco requirements. I’m excited to help lead this next phase of Devoli’s growth.
What are you looking forward to most about the coming year, personally and work-wise?
I’m joining Devoli during an exciting period of growth. I’m looking forward to bringing my skills and energy to a new company, working with a different bunch of talented people, and making new friends.
On a personal level, I have two young kids so the next year will be exciting for them. My daughter turns 4 in December so will start gearing up for school, and my son is almost 6 months so there’ll be a heap of exciting milestones over the next year.
With AI now a critical part of all technology businesses, how do you plan to harness it in your role going forward?
I use AI every day. From research and planning, to creating documents and presentations, to even putting data and notes into easy-to-consume media such as podcasts, enabling me to listen to information on the way to the office or on the way to meetings.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work I watch a lot of sport. Coming from the UK I’m a huge Arsenal fan. Other than saying goodbye to friends and family, the hardest part of coming to New Zealand 10 years ago was leaving my Arsenal season ticket behind. I still watch every game, which often means waking up in the middle of the night. I also enjoy gardening, I travel a lot, and listen to a lot of music.
